Project Volume has been set up to create opportunities where they do not exist for the professional and educational development of people with learning disabilities.
Project Volume will train dancers with learning disabilities to be conversant with contemporary dance culture so to effectively articulate their own artistic vision. It will exploit the current hybrid nature of dance, to include film, performance and art to address the artistic development of the individual, as well as supporting different learning styles.
Project Volume will train dancers with learning disabilities to choreograph, educate and contribute to a new 'landscape of equality' through becoming 'cultural leaders'.
Project Volume will open an evolving and sustainable discourse between disabled dancers and the wider arts and cultural arenas. It will create models of best practice in inclusive dance and in specialist dance training which can be replicated nationally and internationally. |
